That's right, we're heading back into the Soule Gym, so tighten up that lifting belt and prepare for a little pain with your gains. Our last foray into gym signage was years ago when we all lived in blissful pre-COVID harmony, ah, what naive fools we were. Alas, many moons have past and our innocence has been siphoned from us like a crazed Eddie Vedder siphoning gas from a Jetta for his own nefarious grunge-based deeds.

But one thing that has held firm in all that time is the mighty weight of the Soule Gym sign!

However, as the years went by and I acquired more gym equipment, I began to think that the Soule Gym sign could use some spiffing up. And naturally, when I think of spiffing up I think of multi-colored led lights. And what better place for lights than our pals over at Amazon?

Now that we're in the tatazone, a futuristic land that is by all accounts rated NC-17, we can start to light this sucker up! First off, the sign was moved at some point between 2019 and today, it now resides behind a Rogue power rack. Here is the sign with the leds loosely strung around it just to check out the effect.

"Wait, what are those lights hanging on..." you ask? Well, it's a 1/2" plywood backer, the creation of which I didn't document. And since we're talking about plywood, here the sign has been removed, revealing said backer, and the lights are installed via double-sided tape. Also, the wiring has been fished through the void in the cinder block wall to avoid dangling cords.

Next we have the detail of the recess hole for the wiring, luckily the light controller was just shy of 1/2" so it nestled in and didn't interfere with mounting the sign. The hole in the cinder block where the wires were fed through is hidden by the controller.

Finally, the finished led lighting along with the Soule Gym sign! Yes, the track lights wash out the leds around the top of the sign, but meh? Maybe I'll switch to a spotlight further out to avoid that at some point down the road.

But why? Well that's easy, a door hanger was necessary to ward off the neighborhood little rascals attempting to gain entry into the Soule Gym. However, telling them I'm gaming only drew them in. Luckily I possessed the desire and the skills to give that door hanger a make-over. With a little spray paint and some custom cut vinyl we have another piece of Soule Gym signage:
