Ominous visions and dreams of Cyclopean cities beneath the sea can mean but one thing, time for a Cthulhu update!   The basic form was hashed out with ZSpheres as shown below:

Spheres gone wild!

There are arms and hands on this "bust" because I am considering duplicating the pose from my sketch almost exactly, as a refresher here is the sketch:

Give Cthulhu back his Filet O Fish!

This process was a bit of pain due to all the various wiggley bits, but it should make sculpting easier with the general form of all the tentacles outlined.   Here is a detail of the tentacles with a very low resolution adaptive skin.

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle... yeah!

I also took a bit of time this weekend brushing up on additional ZBrush techniques, I created the turntable below with the Dynamesh feature which is a blast to work with.   This is my interpretation of a Mer-man, not nearly as demonic as the Mer-man from Cabin in the Woods, in fact he looks more manic than menacing, but still a good exercise.

I'll likely use some of the features from this concept on the final Cthulhu sculpture - but I'm thinking I'll leave out the shit-eating grin!   That's it for now, I'll post more updates as I get further along...
